A Lifetime of Art

"Everywhere I go, I see a painting waiting to be created." -N.D.

Award winning artist Nina Davidowitz has been creating art since she was a young child. Her current series of landscape paintings -  modern and radiant - expresses the wonder of seeing the world through fresh eyes.

American artist Nina Davidowitz creates contemporary landscapes infused with color and light. Inspired by her surroundings, Nina uses her own photography as a guide to creating her crisp and vivid modern paintings.

Nina has been active as a professional visual artist for over 35 years. Her work has been featured in national and regional venues, and her avid collectors can be found along the east coast, from New York to Washington, DC to Palm Beach, Florida. Nina has received two national awards from the NSPCA (National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylic) in 2014 and 2016 at the Salmagundi Club in New York City.  In 2017 Nina was a featured artist in the summer issue of Acrylic Artist magazine.  A long-time resident of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Nina currently resides in West Palm Beach, Florida.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Most of my artwork is based on a wonderful dance of color and form. I paint what I love, and what I love are these little glimpses of beauty that I come upon in my everyday world. I record these beautiful moments of illumination with photography, taking at least a hundred photographs a week. Of these many photos, perhaps one will inspire me to do a painting. The photograph has to have certain qualities to become a painting: a luminescent glow; an interesting palette of color; a balanced geometry of form. I have found over the years that my compositions have become increasingly simplified, with each scene pared down to its most basic elements. In this sense I can compare my artwork to that of a haiku poem. With this purposeful distillation a certain magic is created.

I hope my artwork will energize you, calm you, and mostly inspire you to find magical moments of beauty in our everyday world.
