Technicolor Morning”, 36” x 24”, acrylic on canvas (with painted wrap-around sides)

About this painting, Nina says: “This is one of my many favorite ‘Palm Beach shrubbery’ scenes that I frequently see when driving around the island. It looked so fresh and clean and radiant one morning, I just had to paint it! I called it ‘technicolor’ because it seemed that all of the colors of the rainbow were refletcted in its aura.”

On the Way to the Beach”, 24” x 30”, acrylic on canvas (with painted wrap-around sides)

This piece makes the artist happy: “The lovely town of Palm Beach has many roads that lead eastward to the beach. The streets are lined with beautiful homes, many of which are fronted by sculpted hedgerows with curved archway entrances. This is one such iconic view. I’ve held onto this one for a while because it makes me happy, but it is ready to find a new home!

This is one of my favorite buildings that celebrates the Tropical Art Deco style of architecture. “Palm Beach Modern”, 24" x 30" x 1" , acylic on canvas (with painted wrap-around sides).

“Balcony View”, 24” x 36”, acrylic on canvas (with painted wrap-around sides).

Nina says: “I’ve always been intrigued with views through windows. As paintings, they pose an interesting challenge for the artist: to adjust the lighting and colors so that the inside and outside spaces are balanced. This is a favorite view from the second story of my townhouse in Florida.”

The artist recalls: “This is one of my first Florida paintings. Upon moving to Florida, I challenged myself with the task of learning how to paint palm trees. In this scene, the late afternoon sun created unusual shapes among the tropical foliage, making it a lot of fun to paint!”

“Big Blue Palm”, 40” x 60”, acrylic on canvas (with painted wrap-around sides)

Nina describes her experience with this painting: “During the Covid lockdown in 2020, I took many early morning walks through my nicely landscaped gated community. The stillness and silence was comforting, and watchng the sun come up was so inspiring. I fell in love with a particular palm tree, so tall and bushy, that greeted me every day and decided to pay hommage to its stately nature in this painting.”

“Morning Song”, 20” x 20”, acrylic on canvas (with painted wrap-around sides)

This painting is a bit of a departure from my usual “style” of painting. In this view of a serene woodland, I fell in love with the myriad of abstract shapes that were created by the sunlight as it spilled through the tree brances, and so I painted them as I saw them, without any blending. This gives a stained glass window effect. Autumn is such a beautiful time of year, and this painting really celebrates it’s glory!

“Crystal Morning”, 36” x 18”, acrylic on canvas (with painted wrap-around sides)

I spotted this scene on an early morning walk around my old neighborhood in Kingston, PA. I had always loved this house, with its two round “porthole” windows, and on this frosty winter day it looked particularly beautiful...swathed in a blanket of snow with the rising sun lighting up its roof peaks. The comnibation of colors in this painting…blues, purples, maives, and ochres…were fun to work with, and capture the feeling of the moment perfectly! This painting won a national award in 2016 at the 62nd Annual Exhibit of the National Society of Painters in Casein & Acrylic, at the Salmagundi Club, New York, NY.

“Suburban Idyll”, 36” x 18”, acrylic on canvas (with painted sides)

Nina recalls: “This is one of my favorite pieces from my early days of painting suburban landscapes in northeastern Pennsylvania. I love mid-century ranch houses, and this one is so striking set against the lush pine trees. The interesting shapes of the blooming cherry trees and the awesome sculpted shrubs also caught my attention, and begged me to be painted!”

“Sunrise in the Treetops”, 30” x 24”, acrylic on canvas (with painted wrap-around sides)

The artist dscribes her inspiration: “This painting reflects the magic of a winter morning. The view is from my studio in Dallas, PA where I lived and worked for a few years before moving to Florida. I loved the view from my little house on a hill. Early mornings in winter can be so lovely, with the sun casting a soft glow on the landscape that turns the snow pink and the gray trees a rich mauve. On this morning, the sunrise seemed to get caught up in the bare tree branches, creating a stained glass window effect. An exquisite moment for sure!”

“Ocean Sunrise #4”, Color-Aid paper on Bristol board, image size 7” x 5”, matted and framed.

Earlier this year, I embarked on a new journey, creating artwork from cut pieces of colored paper. I called this journey a “deep dive into color”, and had so much fun creating these collages. Many were based on a series of sunrise photographs taken at the ocean. Small in size, they pack a powerful punch! Each one is unique and they proved to be very popular at my solo exhibit at Mtn Space Gallery…only a few are left!
