27th Annual All Florida Juried Arts Show
Now through November 14, 2017
I was honored to be selected for this prestigious juried show at the Arts Council of Martin County in Stuart, FL. The exhibit features the works of Florida artists in various media, including sculpture, fiber art, paintings, and photography. My two new pieces, "Little Palm" and "Marshmallow Shrubs" (both acrylic on canvas, 24" x 30") were hung together and received a warm welcome from the many attendees on opening night. The exhibit is housed in the historic Martin County Courthouse Cultural Center. It's worth a visit; and the downtown is fun explore, with lots of restaurants and interesting shops.

In the Studio: Commission Accomplished
Every now and again I take on a project that really encourages me to grow. "Trisha's View", a commissioned piece from a client in Fairfax, VA is the first larger piece I've done in a while. It was so much fun to work on! The challenge for me was getting the lighting to have the right kind of glow in the painting. Based on a photo I took on location, I wanted the painting to convey that magical light of dusk, with the sunset reflected in the many rectangular windows of the surrounding buildings. Another funny challenge was painting those windows (135 in all)! In the end I was really pleased with the results, and the client loved it too!
